This is Munich
Munich became Sasek's adopted home town so This is Munich is an affectionate portrait of the city in all its glory with its national costumes. its bier halles and its Fohn. There is no indication that this is the city Sasek called home, but it is a lovely book and a fine addition to the series.
What the critics said about This is Munich
Author-Illustrator Sasek unwraps cities like Christmas presents. He does not have to simulate a child's natural wonder at what exists; he shares it. From the seven tons of bells in Munich's New Town Hall to the address of the oldest house (No. 5 Burgstrasse), he makes his facts sound like discoveries and his Munich sausages appetizing enough to nibble.
